Rage of the Random Actor Live Addendum
Chapter 19
Groups and the Random Actor — Gangs to Cults to Armies

DK (10-11-2006) North Korean leader Kim Jong II Random Actor Kim's extreme UNPREDICTABLE trait and high FEARFUL trait are relatively easy to spot. As an exercise, Google reports about his behavior and see how many concrete examples of specific actions you can identify. Because of escalating tensions and the announcement of a recent nuclear test, the bizarre leader is of concern to policy makers.  In the article provided, note that psychiatrists try to diagnose him with a disorder, which may or may not be accurate. It is common, though, for Random Actors to be diagnosed with disorders, when many don't have a disorder that must be treated using psychiatric/psychological interventions, rather than the more direct 3-point intervention described in Rage. DK (07-20-2006) Currently in Iraq there is the merging of gangs, militia, extremists, etc. all merging together - a trend detailed in Chapter 19.
A UN study stated that all types of aberrant groups are merging and lines blurring. This is the sort of situation that occurs when there is severe family deterioration. Troops I have talked who have returned from Iraq to confirm that this family factor is the case and is the constant between all these groups. Article on this report

RASH OF ALABAMA CHURCH ARSON CASES COMMITTED BY STUDENTS: TWO WHO WERE LIKELY RANDOM ACTORS
"This is just so hard to believe," said the state fire marshal, Richard W. Montgomery. "My profile on these suspects is shot all to heck and back."
DK (3-9-06): On 2-13 (below) I posted my first observations of the unsolved rash of Alabama church arson attacks. Today, articles came out with bios on the three upscale college students who were arrested yesterday and if the accounts are accurate, at least two were Random Actors. It is now confirmed, if reports are true, that they were much like the young adults that committed the Maryland arson attack. Here are four articles that delay the crime and the three profiles of the students.
Article 1: The Case      Article 2: Fire Chief admits profile completely off

Suspect 3: Mosley              Suspect 1: Cloyd                     Suspect 2: DeBusk

DK (2-13-06): Ten church fires in Alabama Random Actor attacks? A series of church arson attacks against Baptist churches (both black and white congregations) may be a repeat of Random Actor church attacks noted on page 421 that occurred in the 1990s. The AP 2-13-06 article indicates that there doesn't appear to be a motive, not racially inspired, but probably a couple of guys. They sound much like the Random Actors who committed Maryland's largest arson attack (Rage p. 64). Article 1  Article 2

DK (2-14-06): "Copy Cat" arsonist probably another example of Psych Ward Effect detailed in Chapter 10: Today, a mentally disturbed person was caught setting a fire. Media portrays it as copycat, but most likely the young man has the Random Actor traits and is mentally disturbed if reports are accurate. Article

DK (11-28-05): Jose Padilla may not have been a key player in a "dirty bomb" attack It seems that authorities may have overstepped their exercise of power by detaining Padilla as a combatant. Article 1   Article 2

DK (11-12-2005): French Youth Riots — Not Random Actor driven, but affluent could attach themselves to the "cause" and commit attacks
Most of the attacks have been committed by at-risk youths from lower income families with high unemployment with severe at-risk family issues. It is not Random Actor driven. In many of the original media reports, the youths are identified from the same kinds of homes that cause gang formation in North America and Europe. Over 2,500 cars were burned over the last year in France without drawing international media attention. Random Actors who are affluent could attach themselves to the "cause" and commit suicide-homicide attacks.

This is from Dallas Morning News foreign correspondent Todd Roberson, 11-12-05

The backlash was not limited to white French Christians. In the Paris suburb of Aulnay-Sous-Bois, a Turkish Kurd restaurant owner who identified himself only as Ali said he agrees with Mr. Sarkozy's tough language. "I work for a living. When I see these immigrant kids outside smoking marijuana late at night, I can't help but wonder: Where are their parents, and why aren't these boys at home?" he said. "We're living in fear because they think it's their right to roam the streets. In a democracy, it's not supposed to be like this." Complete Article
